Re: Where are the Jews that play Rock and Roll?
by Arieh Lebowitz on 2000/07/06 16:44:51 US/Mountain

For places that have information on the web, try using the two magic words "Jewish" and "music" on these search engines:

www.metacrawler.com

www.google.com

The cultural palges of the English Forward newspaper has items about Jews involved in Rock and Roll, not "Jewish R&R" per se.

The Jewish youth groups Bnai Brith Youth Organization and Young Judaea, not to mention the Reform, Conservative, Orthodox groups, as well as Habonim Dror and Hashomer Hatzair and Betar, all would have information. You can get their websites easily, and also look them up in the American Jewish Year Book.

Also try the website for The Kitchen, which is a NYC club and the epicenter of new radical [culturally, not politically] Jewish music. John Zorn is a macher there ...

P.S. Don't forget Lou Reed!
