The
selection accompanying this slideshow is taken from Maurice Ravel's Kaddish,
from Melodies Hebraiques. Kaddish was composed in 1914 for voice
and piano, and orchestrated in 1918. It was widely disseminated in arrangments
for violin, viola and cello, and has frequently been interpolated into
the service in Reform synagogues.
From: The Jewish
Soul Disc includes by Jewish composers Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Yehezkel Braun and Rafi Kadishson (who conducts the Castelnuovo-Tedesco and his own composition) and philo-Semite Maurice Ravel.
